This page was inspired
by the spirit of our rescued, sanctuary dog, Omar. He came to live with us in joint partnership with Young at Heart
Pet Rescue located in Palatine, Il.. Omar was 8+ years old, blind, deaf and ultimately was found to have cancer. In December
2007, he died in the arms of all of us who had loved him. He was a special companion that had the power to lead and inspire
those that lived with him. He taught the normal canine lessons of devotion, forgiveness and unconditional love but, he also
taught lessons of the spirit as well. He was living proof that there is a need for us to step forward and rescue the
lost, abandoned and abused. He taught us that as long as there is a will to fight, that we humans have no right to give
up on our canine companions. No matter what life had dealt Omar, he woke up each day with fire in his eyes and a sense
of spirit in his sole.
The funds that come into Omar's Spirit Memorial Fund are in memory of rescues that
have come our way that could not be saved or those, like Omar who embraced the spirit of the fight. These resources are set
aside from the normal budget of our rescue group to be used for those that are in need. They will allow the lame to walk,
let the sick be healed, and the blind to see again. These funds will supplement our normal rescue resources so that more can
be reached and special ones will always find a place within. They will also be used in the memory of Omar and others that
have come our way and have made us better by doing so.

"BETSY" IN LOVING
MEMORY - 4 / 23 / 08
LET ME GO by Elaine O'donnell
There was a day, not
long ago, when GOD looked 'round and said,"who'll go to earth to teach forgiving love to those who
mistreat, hurt and beat?" And so she said, "let me go!" I'd be good at showing them what they
should and shouldn't do if they would like to spend eternity with you.
A heartbeat later GOD came
here, saw her pain and drew her near. He said "come home my dear, no longer will they cause you fear," but, one more place needs your grace, before you reach your resting place. Go to them who will ease your pain and bring you back to me again. "Then let me go," she replied and in anguish cried. I do need rest, I trust that you know best. and she found the love that GOD was speaking of right here in
my heart like GOD knew from the start.
When she knew it was time to return to the divine, her big
brown eyes looked at mine and said: It's okay, I'll be fine. You have more work here, I know and I
will always watch over you. So, let me go. Let me go. For Betsy with Love, Your foster Moms, Elaine and

"Cooper and his Mom, Susan"
"COOPER" Cooper will always be our hero.Cooper's unconditional
love for his Mom, Susan, was the flame that lit her soul and fanned her spirit. Cooper left us after a brave and
valiant battle with lymphoma. He may no longer be with us in body but, he will always be with us in spirit. Our memories of
Cooper will bring smiles and laughter for years to come. Thank you Cooper for sharing your independence, your love, your aloofness,
humor and your puppy exuberance and joy, your patience and your ultimate bravery with all of us. Cooper, you are and will
forever be, our "HERO".
