"SMALL
KIDS DOING BIG THINGS"
6/28/08 Kids for Kritters Klub members Scott with his rescue dog, "Piper" and Britt
with her rescue dog "Reggie", score big in Lake County's 2008 4-H Dog Show at the
Lake County Fairgrounds.
Scott and Piper had 2 first place
finishes, 1 second place and a Reserve Grand Champion. Britt and Reggie had 3 first place finishes, 1 Reserve Grand Champion
and a Grand Champion. Give a rescue some love, turn them loose and they will walk away a winner everytime. Nice job guys.
You have made this rescue very, very proud!
A special thanks to Roxanne and Pets Supplies Plus
in Mundelein for hosting our "Fill That Truck" Pet Food Drive on June 22, 2008. Also, a big thanks to Gale,
Tina and Doug of A- American Storage in Vernon Hills and Mundelein for donating Storage space for our "Old Mother Hubbards" project and the use of their truck
for food collection and transportation during the event. Over 1300 pounds of food was donated to benefit our area
township pantries to provide pet food for those who are experiencing economic hardship.
Great minds being led by great people. Thank you Lynn and Jill for accepting the task of organizing
and leading this amazing team of Kids for Kritters. Thank you also to the gals at Pets General Store and Double M Obedience in
Libertyville for allowing us the opportunity to use their facility for our meetings. We simply could not do what we do without
you ladies.
A big shout out to PETCO in Vernon Hills for coming to the rescue
! Thank you to our store managers April and Russ for making us feel so welcome and thank you for helping
out our Kids For Kritters in their food donation drive to benefit those families that may be struggling in our community. Awesome job "lead dog Jill" and your little kritters, Maggie,Britt,Tori and John!
Sam [6], Britt
[11], Scott[16] and Maggie [9] make one of many deliveries of donated dog/cat food, litter and treats to the Libertyville
Township Food Pantry. Their efforts may allow families experiencing hardship to keep their pets. So many of our animal
companions are being turned into shelters because it is getting to expensive to feed them. "If we can help give them
food, families will have more money to pay their other bills and the their pets can stay home with the ones that love them."
said Britt
Maggie sits in front of approximately 8001bs. of donated dog/cat food, litter
and treats that she collected during a recent food drive held at Pets
Supplies Plus in Mundelein. A special THANK-YOU to Britt, Maggie and her
Mom and Dad for their efforts and to Roxanne, the store's manager for allowing us this opportunity. .

THE POWER OF MYRON Has anyone ever wondered what M&M stands
for? Well, here at Our house of hope, it stands for Maggie & "Myron" and they recently teamed up to educate
the public at Carson Pirie Scott in Vernon Hills. Myron is a 7 yr. old Shih Tzu that was rescued several months ago by Our
House of Hope after being found wandering along a freeway in Georgia. If thats not scary enough, he was completely blind from
severe Glaucoma at the time. When the pressure in his eyes couldn't be controlled, a decision to remove them
had to be made. Myron now leads a completely normal life without pain. He was recently adopted by Maggie and her
family and they want the whole world to know just how awesome it is to have a blind dog. He is totally normal and if
he does get into a bind somewhere, he has a great "seeing eye" sister now in Maggie to help him.
2/11/08 Britt takes
"Rescue Reggie" all of the way to the top. Under the leadership of Maria Betlinski,
trainer for Double M Obedience, Reggie and his handler, Britt just passed their C.G.C. [Canine Good Citizen] Certification
Program. The program is an intense 8 week course designed to prepare our canine companions for therapy work. Reggie
was rescued last year shortly after Thanksgiving. Our House of Hope Executive Director, Lisa Krinninger states that
"Reggie is a great goodwill ambassador for this rescue and that his amazing spirit must be shared". Nice work Britt
and a BIG THANK YOU TO MARIA AND DOUBLE M OBEDIENCE for believing in this rescue and the work that we do.
A big rescue "Thank
You" goes out to Maggie and her family for braving the cold on Feb.9, 2007 while fundraising
on our behalf to benefit our animals medical fund. Maggie was soooo creative when she turned herself into a walking human
billboard. Much additional work was put into a beautiful sign featuring our animals currently up for adoption. Maggie and
her family are a vital part of Our House of Hope's network of volunteers who consistantly fight for a better tomorrow
for our animals. Thank you!
WE DID IT! We reached our goal and presented
Conservation Police Dog "Charlie" his new bullet proof and stab resistant police vest to keep him safe while he
works to protect us.
On September 22, 2007, the KIDS FOR KRITTERS KLUB participated in a vesting ceremony sponsored
by Illinois Vest- A - Dog. The kids klub had set a goal, researched the program, came up with a plan and over the course
of several months, raised the $ 825.00 needed to buy Charlie his new custom made vest. The presentation of
the vest was held in conjunction with THE RAYS AWARENESS RUN / WALK for MELANOMA RESEARCH at Independence Grove
in Libertyville, Illinois.
Realizing that when there is a cure for cancer in humans, help for our canine companions
will likely soon follow, Our House of Hope presented an additional $257.00 to the Koutny Family in honor of their mother whom
they lost suddenly to cancer just 3 years ago. This donation will go to support Melanoma Research.
