Bill Smith of the Libertyville Noon Rotary presents Executive Director , Lisa
Krinninger with a check for $500.00 to benefit the medical needs of the animals of Our House of Hope K-9 Rescue. Krinninger
has earmarked these funds for the cutting edge construction of a prosthetic leg for one of her rescue dogs named Lizzie. Krinninger
states that Lizzie came to her rescue about 6 weeks ago from Missouri, missing a right front leg. Upon further exam,
it is thought to believe that she was born this way and has compensated all of this time by walking on the remaining stub.
Krinninger, along with Derrick Campana of Specialized Orthopaedics in Virginia and Greentree Animal Hospital in
Libertyville will be working together to cast and create a custom prosthetic to allow Lizzie to walk / run normally for the
first time in her life. Lizzie is currently available for adoption through Our House of Hope K-9 Rescue.
OUR HOUSE OF HOPE FOSTER FAMILIES GRADUATE FROM AMERICAN RED CROSS PET FIRST AID AND CPR CERTIFICATION
COURSE. Because top notch medical care is our number 1 priority with our animals,
it is essential that our foster homes are always prepared to handle basic first aid and emergency related issues. A special
thanks goes out to K-9 Playtime of Mundelein for hosting the seminar, Dr. Laura Brown D.V.M. of Green Tree Animal Hospital
in Libertyville for providing reference materials and a valuable question and answer period in between sessions, to our instructor,
Linda Raphael of The American Red Cross and to our foster families for their continued dedication and commitment to
our animals.
2/11/08 Three "Our
House of Hope Alumni" graduate from CGC Certification Course. After an intense
8 week C.G.C. Certification Course, three of Our House of Hope Rescues graduate with honors. The course is designed
to prepare them for therapy work. Holly, Callie and Reggie have come so far in such a short amount of time. Holly is a 8+
year old Cocker Spaniel who is totally deaf, Callie is a 1.5 yr.old, high energy Terrier Mix who just wants to please
and Reggie is a 4 yr old Cocker Spaniel that will melt your heart. All were trained under the direction of Maria Betlinski
of Double M Obedience in Libertyville. Maria has a way of teaching the "individual" dog and handler and addressing
issues unique to each for maximum performance. She has over 30 years experience and is one of a kind in dog training. Completion
of this course is not the only thing that these 3 dogs have in common. They are "all" foster care flunkies.
They have all been adopted by their foster families and have now become goodwill ambassadors for Our House of Hope K-9
rescue.
Thank you to Reporter Dan Moran and his Photographer
Andre Jackson from the Lake County News-Sun for attending and
covering our event. November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month. It's one thing to look up an animal on Petfinders and see that
it may be older or have special needs but, to physically be able to attend an event to see first hand, that the animals get
around just fine, can make all of the difference. As we were chatting with the reporters, Myron came flying acrossed
the floor in chase of a friend he had just met. Our reporter had no idea whatsoever that Myron was completely blind. For that
matter, Myron had never set foot in that very large building until about 1/2 hour prior. More times than not, the
terms "senior" or "special needs" create a fear of the unknown. More times than not, these very animals
can often bring more love and joy to a family than that puppy in the window.
Thankyou to the "THREE WITCHES OF
MUNDELEIN" for allowing us to participate in and to benefit from their 2007 Halloween Howl.
The event was sponsored by K-9 Playtime, Shear Paradise Pet Salon and Tres
Bone Bakery, all of Mundelein. We also want to thank the Pioneer Press and the News-Sun for covering the event. Exposure
from an event like this promotes and educates our community on the benefits of exploring "The Adoption Option".
Funds raised from this event will be applied to our medical account at Greentree Animal Hospital in Libertyville for
the surgical care of our animals. We also appreciate the help and support of the Aussie Rescue and Fuzzy Paws Shih Tzu Rescue.
An event isnt an event without old friends and the meeting of new. We look so forward to working again with the both of you
in the future.
A special Thank you to the Macy's Corporation and Vernon Hills coordinator,
Bridget Protocar for allowing Our House of Hope the opportunity to participate in their annual "Shop For A
Cause Campaign" with all proceeds benefiting local charities. Our House of Hope proudly states that 100% of monies
raised from this event goes directly for the medical care and treatment of our animals. This rescue makes no compromises
in their health, emotional or behavioral care. Our House of Hope would also like to formally thank all of their
volunteers for the day. Bon, Deb, Jeannie, Darcy and Britt, We could not do what we do without all of your help and support
and we thank you! Most of all, we give hugs and kisses to Monty, George and Myron, our pups awaiting adoption. They were all
pooped by the end of the day but, so enjoyed the kind words and warm smiles from our community.
